PRAYER REWIND NO.2

Hey, viewers! So, we're onto our second prayer rewind! How did the last one go? Feel free to email me or let me know in the comments! For now, let's get started:

Jesus said to the people who believed in Him, "You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8: 31-32 NLT).

The truth will set you free. Interestingly, I didn't know that these were originally the words of the Lord until a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, what exactly does that mean? The first key to understanding this is knowing that the God's word is truth. Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6 NLT). Well, so is His word. Knowing and abiding by His word will free you of the many confusing things about this world. Everywhere we turn, we see the many things wrong with society: the promotion of sex, money, and drugs; the degradation of women, crime and terrorism, etc. It's so hard not to let the world's mess feed into our lives. Trust in God's word, and nothing can keep you down or lead you astray. Here's a prayer from Prayers with Purpose for Women by Jackie M. Johnson:

Thank You, Lord, that Your Word is true. Sometimes it's hard to discern truth from a lie or from the half-truths that bombard me daily from television, radio, magazines, and popular culture. I want to know the truth and live it. Help me to look to Your steady and solid  Word, not to this world, for my life instruction manual. I thank You that You will never lead me astray, that You will never lie to me, and that You always keep your promises. [In Jesus' name. Amen.]

Have a wonderful week!
